Hey everybody! I know this post is a little behind-the-times and long overdue since our last post, but we wanted to give you a quick update before releasing this week’s project video.
Juju and I were able to spend the Christmas holiday season (almost all of December) with our adult twins (Jenna, husband Donte, and Ben) and granddaughter Rosalie. We pulled our travel trailer from Jacksonville, FL to Suffolk, VA over the weekend and set up camp at Davis Lakes & Campground which had beautiful scenery.
With being full-time in our travel trailer over 3-years now, we are becoming increasingly more comfortable and efficient preparing everything to move, traveling, and then setting back up that it has become second nature. That and we had all the luxuries of home because we brought them with us! It gave us the opportunity to visit with our family and also relax with just the two of us at the end of the day.
After about a week of continuous visits to Jenna’s place, Rosie stayed with us for an entire weekend so mom and dad could get away and spend some quality time together. We went on so many walks that weekend that when we would later walk into Jenna’s apartment (and even now when Rosie sees us on Facetime) she runs to grab her shoes and coat to “go outside” as she says.
Rosie really loves walking around in nature, taking everything in. It was such a joy to experience her realizing the magnitude of trees, the mental shift from perceiving them as just part of the landscape to seeing them as formidable objects of nature’s beauty. Seeing that change on her face has been one of my favorite experiences since becoming a grandparent.
Rosie loves her Uncle Ben, Jenna’s twin brother. They love to horse around together and play “getchu”, a special game of “I want you to hide, pop-out and scare me, then chase me while I squeal” developed by Rosalie herself. Grandpa ends up taking over when Uncle Ben gets tired out and vice-versa.
After returning to Florida before New Year’s Eve, we were able to have Christmas with our other granddaughter Ellie, and of course her parents Alexis and Nick :P. Ellie is very adventurous and inquisitive and loves to spend time outside playing in the backyard. She takes time to greet all the neighbors and cats around the neighborhood when she gets the chance. We brought Ellie some gifts (and assembled them) and played along with her to “break them in”. Not many pics because we were present in the moment.
Of course, I took the liberty of completing a video project (or 2) while we were on the trip, so it was still a business trip with all the personal benefits of family. Video project to follow soon, hope you enjoy.
